Mitsubishi Electric Asia donated high-efficient air conditioning systems to the U Thant House in cooperation with local distributor.
The U Thant House, which belongs to the government, is a colonial era building within the Windermere compound in Yangon. The former United Nations Secretary-General U Thant lived there in the 1950s before leaving to serve as Burma’s Permanent Representative to the UN in 1957. In early 2012, President U Thein Sein approved a request from Yangon Heritage Trust Chairman Dr. Thant Myint-U that the house be renovated for reuse as a museum dedicated to the life of U Thant, as well as a center for public events, on issues related to the former Secretary General and his work.
In order to contribute to preserve this historical property, Mitsubishi Electric Asia and PME donated 7 inverter air conditioners for the U Thant House in October, 2015.
Mitsubishi Electric Asia signed a memorandum of understanding with local distributor and Myanmar Engineering Society (MES) to provide training to engineers.
A two-years memorandum of understanding was signed among Mitsubishi Electric Asia, Peace Myanmar Electric (PME) and MES to provide training on air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Through its authorized distributor, PME, lessons and hands-on would be conducted from fundamental to advanced curriculum on platforms provided by MES. The courses equipped engineers with adequate knowledge to manage the most advanced heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) systems. A refrigeration kit was also donated to MES for training use.
Opening the door to future generation of engineers, Mitsubishi Electric and Yangon Technological University (YTU) signed agreement on technological cooperation.
Mitsubishi Electric was one of few selected leading manufacturers who had cooperated with Yangon Technological University (YTU) under the Myanmar government push for human resources development. It was the first time for Mitsubishi Electric to partner with a Myanmar educational institute to groom Myanmar engineers.
A technological cooperation was signed with YTU for a three-month internship program. Under this program, selected YTU students would attend the program in Japan from December 2014 to February 2015.
